PORTFOLIO 2 - VACCINATIONS

Updated: May 27, 2021

The UK has one of the fastest covid vaccination programmes in Europe and many unused buildings have become temporary vaccination centres. There have been lots of doubts and rumours surrounding both approved vaccinations, but how safe do UK residents really feel about getting the vaccine. Reporter Jamie Tucker finds out more.

Reflection: This package would be good for local news shows such as look east, or ITV Anglia. As well as being content that works for a national news programme as well. This was filmed and created in January, when the vaccination roll out was just beginning. It focuses on an 82 year old man from Sawbridgeworth, in Hertfordshire and a 21 year old diabetic female from Braintree, Essex. These are two people who are both considered vulnerable when it comes to Covid-19, but are also at very different points in their lives, and have different concerns surrounding the vaccinations. Terry, has already had his first vaccination, so is able to provide a fear-debunking aspect, where as Jessica is waiting for her appointment, but has concerns about future implications. It's an educational and factual news piece that was filmed at a Covid safe distance, to respect all the rules in place at the time of recording. It was a choice to create a package that wasn’t all just done over zoom, to add a little variety to the portfolio. PTC was filmed out location to the story which will finish the story off in a neat way. There were no ethical issues to consider, other than social distancing measures. Natural atmos was available due to outside filming (Including the loud rooster next door) and there were no real complications. I’m happy with the finished package.
