200 WORD REFLECTION ON MY FIRST DAY AT THE BURY FREE PRESS

My first week at the Bury Free Press was interesting. I was thrown straight into the task of writing a story from a press release ready for next Thursday’s paper. As scary as that sounds, once I got into it, it was really nothing to stress over.

It was only a short picture story about a charity event that’s taking place in Bury at the start of June. My final write-up of the story was approved so hopefully I’ll be seeing it in next weeks issue, which is exciting considering it was my first day.

I also spent 3 hours of my day in a Google Labs lesson. Google had come to the office to teach everyone how to use the browser more efficiently, so I got to attend this too and it was really cool actually.

Abigail, the google expert also told everyone about other websites that google promote that can be used to improve your online and print presents, which for a newspaper is obviously very helpful.

I got to speak to her one on one too, where she gave me a few tips and tricks to help with my university essays and assignments.

All in all my first day was really good and I look forward to seeing what else I’ll be getting up too while I’m there.
