Week 2 at the Bury Free Press was very different to my first week. Firstly, it was a lot quieter, I would say around half the staff were there compared to last week. And there wasn’t particularly a lot for me to do.
I started the day by looking into a story that the editor found on Facebook. I had to look into it and see if I could write a story from it. Which I did, I reached out to the drama society and they sent me a full press release and pictures. I was able to write a story that ended up being published online for the BFP which adds nicely into my portfolio.
My second task of the day was to write a 78-word story that went with a certain photograph for next weeks paper. This was extremely hard. The press release had too much information to fit into 78 words, but I did complete it.
I wrote one final story that appears on the website not and finished my day at a reasonable time. All this writing is so good for my portfolio and is definitely adding to my experience. That’s 4 published pieces of work I’ve written now for the BFP, and hopefully I'll get to write more.
