200 WORD SUMMARY OF A LOCAL NEWS STORY AND A 200 WORD FOLLOW UP ONE WEEK LATER.

This is my first local story summary that I've done outside the class room. It's a story I've found very interesting and tried to summaries in the most respectful way possible. Written on January 2nd 2019:

"Cambridgeshire faces another child themed scandal, after former Cambridge United youth coach is accused of historic sexual abuse claims from old players. Peterborough crown court is going to see the youth director being charged with 11 accusations of indecency next week.

Last year the arrest occurred as a part of an investigation into footballs link with historic, sexual abuse with children. The offences involve 11, under 16-year-old boys and are supposed to have taken place from the years 1978’ – 2009’.

The football consultancy has taken down their records of him from their website since the arrest. The accused coach pleaded not guilty and was supposed to appear in court earlier this year, he denies all the charges made against him.

The coach worked for several local youth groups including Norwich City and has worked with a list of some of the top players of today. For Cambridge United, he was employed as head of talent development for 5 years.

He also worked for Peterborough until 2001 as their team’s youth academy runner until more recently, where he’s worked for other Cambridgeshire non-league teams and spent some time in Finland as a scout.

More information will be given once the court case takes place in the second week of January 2019"

Now, just seven days later on January 9th, new information has lead to a breaking story regarding the case. I've written a 200 word summary of the new events to add to the previous post:

" Michael ‘Kit’ Carson was supposed to stand on trial, at Peterborough crown court at 9AM on Tuesday the 8th of January. Due to unfortunate events it seems that Carson will now never stand trial again.

On the A1303 at 09:45, Monday the 7th of January Kit Carson’s Mazda left the road and drove straight into a tree. Police have stated that he died at the scene of the crash. The Peterborough Crown Court was informed of death on Tuesday morning.

Mr Carson’s death will be referred on to the Coroner now, after Judge Matthew Lowe ruled that his case file shall now be closed. No other person or vehicle were involved with this crash. Cambridgeshire police released a statement explaining the crash, which occurred roughly seven miles outside of Cambridge, close to the village of Bottisham.

Carson was accused of 12 incidents of indecent assault and this involved 11 boys, all under the age of 16. These assaults were supposed to have taken place from 1978 to 2009. The former football youth coach had previously pleaded not guilty at an early hearing at Cambridgeshire Crown Court. The alleged victims will now never get to hear his defence to the accusation, or see what the verdict would have been"
