INSTRUCTIONAL ARTICLE: THE TIGER KING IN TWELVE HOURS

By Jamie-Paige Tucker

So, during this isolation period you may be working from home every day and be filled with workloads larger than ever before. Maybe you’re be bored out of your brain trying to find something decent to watch to fill your time with. Or you might be having a healthy balance of rest days and work days. Whatever you’re doing with your days, I imagine you’re feeling like everyone else. Bored.

Many of you may have heard of the Tiger King documentary that hit Netflix last month and be interested in watching it, which is highly recommended. However, if you’re going to watch to, you need to watch it right.

This is how you can binge the whole documentary series in just twelve hours. Now I know this sounds like a task but it’s really very simple. The series includes of eight, 45 minute episodes. So that’s only 6 hours of actually watching. Which is easily achieved. And leaves you with 6 hours to achieve other daily tasks like eating and showering.

This is based on a 9am – 9pm day. As the show is quite intense and you may want something lighter to pop n before you go to sleep. Plus, the show is crazy, so your brain may need an hour or so to process everything you’ve just seen.

1. You want to start watching your first episode by 10:30am. This gives you an hour and a half from waking up to grab a coffee, have a shower and some breakfast before diving into the American docu-series.

2. Then you want to watch the first two episodes by lunch. Now I say two because the first episode is a little bit strange, and you definitely need to watch the second one to fully understand who everyone is and what role they play in the events that later unfold.

3. you probably want to get some lunch, have a cold drink, socialise with the others in your house until about 2 o’clock. This gives you time to enjoy a meal, maybe even share your Tiger King experience so far. It is healthy to make sure you leave your viewing area for a substantial amount of time to avoid cabin fever!

4. Now is time for another two episodes. These two are really where the show starts to get good. And you’ve been fed so you can really focus on all the events that are about to transpire. I’d be wearing something comfortable, to make sure you’re fully relaxed and prepared for what you’re about to endure.

5. After these two hours you need a snack, or latest another cold drink. You need at least a 30 minute break here. I’d recommend having water with you the whole time during the show. But you may want to grab something to break up your viewing as you’re now about to watch episodes five and six.

6. Now you’re ready for the penultimate episodes. The series technically finishes at episode seven, as eight is a reunion show. Therefore, watching five and six means you are nearly there at the finish line. Watching these two episodes will make you want to watch the final episode then and there. However, you need to eat.

7. After episode six I would take some time to eat your dinner. And I’d allow an hour for food and a cold drink. And remember to socialise during this time and a rest. Then it’s time to crack on with the very last episode of Joe Exotic. And trust me by this point you’ll be very attached to this man’s life.

8. The last two episodes. Now if you want to watch the reunion it’s up to you. It was made as an isolation special. However, you have you watch episode 7. Allow yourself to be fully involved in the last part of this very confusing story. And when it’s finish, you’ll realise what a weird and wonderful life these crazy American’s live.

Now you’ve successfully spent a whole day bingeing a Netflix series. Which you may consider a waste of time, however it’s a documentary so really, it’s an educational experience. And if not anything else. You’ve filled a whole isolation day. Congratulations.
