Context here is that, this is a speech by David Cameron in 2013 about his views on Britain's relationship with the EU. The speech was made in Bloomberg, January 2013 and I had to write as if it was Live and I was reporting as if I was there. Meaning I could not let recent happenings cloud my views. It is only brief due to a lack of experience, but it is a reasonable first attempt.

" The Prime Minister made a Speech this week discussing his plans for a referendum on the British membership of the European Union. “We have helped to write European history”, A quote taken from David Cameron at his Britain and Europe speech in Bloomberg. Cameron took to the stage to express his feelings towards the relationship between Britain and the European Union and what he would like to change.

It’s the start of a brand-new year and Cameron states that he is “not a British isolationist” however he does “want a better deal for Britain” and I think these two quotes realistically sum up his whole 40-minute speech. Cameron suggested that Britain as a nation is seen as an “argumentative” member of the EU but he rather see’s us as having the “character of an island nation – Independent”. Which puts a more positive spin on our situation within the European Union.

As well as his concerns for Britain’s future, Cameron also expresses his fears for the future of the European Union, claiming “More of the same will not bring the European Union closer to it’s citizens” also stating he believes “we need fundamental, far reaching change” to improve the EU all together. Cameron made it very clear that he does not what Britain to isolate itself, He does want to reform within, not from outside the EU. He believes the future of the EU is “a future that Britain wants and should want to play a committed and active part” in.

The speech indicated that there was a growing frustration that the EU is not acting on the citizens behalf and people are getting upset that decisions are being taken away from them. Making them want to leave the EU all together. Cameron reminded us that Britain is independent but also open. We should not retreat from the world but show them that we lead the charge for a free trade and the fight against protectionism. We should work together for change, not isolate ourselves from the problem. "
