PORTFOLIO 2 - RUNNING FOR MENTAL HEALTH

A TV package created for my final portfolio.

The ongoing lockdowns in the United Kingdom are having a huge effect on everyone’s mental wellbeing, but it seems running and general daily exercise may be the answer, according to the Mental Health Organisation. But how true is this? Reporter Jamie-Paige Tucker finds out more…

REFLECTION: This package would be good for local news shows such as look east, or ITV Anglia as it is surrounding Takeley, a little village in Essex and could be broadcast at any time of day. It focuses on how running helps with your mental health during lockdowns and how the bad winter weather has affected this little villages running routes. This was filmed during the national lockdown; however, all interviews were done from a safe 2 metre distance and all guidelines were followed. Both interviewees were clear and interesting, making both interviews enjoyable but incredibly hard to cut down. It was a good concept for visuals as there was lots, I could do with the exercise clips. PTC was filmed on a local running route (The flitch way) which helped tie the story together at the end with the quote from the mental health organisation. There was no ethical considerations with this particular package as no one was under age or venerable. And any shots where strangers were filmed you could not see their face. Natural sound was available as all interviews were done outside. Overall, I had no real issues when filming this package.
